If you haven’t taken a look at D’Angelo Russell’s podcast yet, it’s worth a look, even if it’s just for the unexpectedly high production quality.
Russell’s latest guest on the show, which is called The Backyard Podcast, was Devin Booker. And when the cameras started rolling, Book had jokes for DLo.
At one point in the episode, Russell admitted that he’d definitely received more calls from the officials as a member of the Lakers, compared with when he played for other teams.
D’Angleo Russell: “I used to get the whistle my boy, in LA young boul.”
Devin Booker: “In LA, ain’t that convenient. You didn’t get it in Brooklyn or Golden State. That makes sense.”

“I was in LA, we playing Phoenix… I used to get the whistle, bro,” Russell said. “Like a nice little whistle. I used to get the whistle, my boy, in LA.”
That’s when Booker chimed in.
“In LA, ain’t that convenient,” he said. “You didn’t get it in Brooklyn or Golden State. That makes sense.”
The exchange was just one example of an entertaining conversation between the two. You can watch the full episode here.
Russell and Booker are longtime friends and both hail from the same 2015 draft class.
