Kobe

The second of three planned statues featuring Kobe Bryant will be unveiled in a private ceremony on Friday outside of Crypto.com Arena, according to ESPN.

It will also feature Bryant’s daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, who died in the same helicopter crash that killed her father and seven other people in January 2020.

The first statue of Bryant, unveiled on February 8, depicts Bryant during his famous 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors from 2006.

Today’s statue reveal lands on a highly significant date, 8/2/24, which represents both of Bryant’s jersey numbers, as well as Gigi’s.

In a similar vein, the first statue unveiling was on 2/8/24.

The third statue will feature Bryant wearing his No. 24 Lakers uniform, according to Vanessa Bryant, and is expected to be unveiled at some point next season, per ESPN.
