Jaylen Brown Calls Out Team USA Director for ‘Conspiracy Theory’ Comment

Brown

Jaylen Brown has hit back at Team USA Basketball’s Managing Director Grant Hill after latest comments about JB.

Despite being Finals MVP and having an exceptional season with the Celtics, Brown was left off the Team USA roster.

The decision was quite the head-scratcher considering his Boston teammates Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are all in the squad.

Hill recently explained the decision to leave Brown off the Team USA roster.

“This idea that there’s a conspiracy theory, I always love a good conspiracy theory, but it was really truly a basketball decision,” Hill said of Brown’s omission on The Dan Patrick Show. “These are tough decisions, but having gone through this with the FIBA competition, you want to find the right balance and the right pieces on the court that we needed.

“Not to say he wouldn’t have been good — there’s a lot of guys, a whole list of guys who are very capable and qualified — but for where we were, it was the right decision. Derrick White, I think, will help us as we pursue gold.”

Brown has since responded to Hill’s comments on social media.

“Grant Hill calling me a conspiracy theorist is disappointing. I’ve been a VP since I was 21 years old. I have a great understanding,” Brown wrote in a post on X Sunday morning.

Brown’s teammate White was called in to replace Kawhi Leonard on Team USA earlier this month and Brown made multiple posts questioning the decision, while implying that Nike played a role in his snub from the roster.

“I do for sure,” Brown told reporters when asked if Nike influenced the decision. “There’ll be more stuff to come with that but as of now I’m not going to comment on it.”

Brown’s theory is interesting considering most of the Team USA athletes are Nike – only three players have no affiliation with Nike basketball.

Let the conspiracy theories reign.
