Dan Hurley Plans to Make Final Coaching Decision Monday: Report

Hurley

UConn head coach Dan Hurley is reportedly going to make a decision about taking the Lakers head coaching job very soon, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

After meeting with the Lakers brass on Friday in California, Hurley plans to make a decision about his future on Monday, Woj says.

“Hurley told ESPN that the Los Angeles Lakers made a “compelling case” and presented a “compelling vision” for him to become the franchise’s next coach but that he loves what he has built at two-time defending national champion UConn…,” he further explained.

In the media, JJ Redick has been the reported front runner for the head coaching role, but Woj further confirmed that, “Hurley has been at the forefront of the Lakers’ search from the beginning of the process, even while the organization has done its due diligence interviewing several other candidates, sources said. Only New Orleans assistant James Borrego had two in-person interviews in Los Angeles, sources said.”

Wojnarowski later added, “The Lakers have proceeded with conversations with other candidates over the past few weeks, but the potential of landing Hurley has been the focus of the Lakers’ search, sources said.”

With the league’s greatest all-time scorer LeBron James on the Lakers roster, the new coach will certainly be held to high standards.
