Rumors are always circling in the NBA world but things are getting interesting as we get closer to free agency.
With that in mind, here are the latest rumors doing the rounds:
76ERS INTERESTED IN KLAY THOMPSON, ZACH LAVINE & DONOVAN MITCHELL
The 76ers reportedly have their eye on plenty of players heading into free agency, and according to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, Donovan Mitchell is one of them.
Fischer noted that the Cavaliers firing head coach J.B. Bickerstaff on Thursday was an “inevitable move in the team’s efforts toward keeping Mitchell long-term.”
The same report listed Klay Thompson and Zach LaVine as potential targets for Philadelphia.
LaVine would need to be acquired via trade and Fischer says he could be considered if the Sixers miss out on their other big names targets.
JIMMY STAYING WITH HEAT
There had been talk that Butler’s desire to secure a two-year deal worth over $100 million could lead to his departure from Miami. But despite this, NBA executives reportedly believe he will be staying put.
“A far murkier dynamic is that of Jimmy Butler, who’s extension eligible in Miami,” Fischer wrote. “The Sixers (Philadelphia 76ers), of course, have been in the Butler business before. He and [Joel] Embiid maintained a close relationship, and Butler may have been the All-Star whom [Daryl] Morey most often attempted to acquire in Houston, sources said. At this juncture, however, league executives are of the mind Butler will most likely remain with the Heat.”
MAVERICKS COULD DRAFT BRONNY JAMES
The Mavericks could look to draft Bronny in a bold play to tempt LeBron James to join a team that already features Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, according to Stephen A. Smith.
Smith’s comments more or less coincide with Shams Charania recently reporting what everyone already suspected: that LeBron James would like to reunite with Kyrie Irving.
