Yet another one of Michael Porter Jr.’s brothers has landed himself in hot water.
Jevon Porter, a former collegiate standout at Pepperdine, was arrested on Friday night in Missouri on suspicion of DWI. Porter was released on summons. The news was first reported by local outlet Power Mizzou and confirmed by ESPN.
Porter’s arrest comes just two weeks after his older brother, Jontay Porter, was banned for life from the NBA for violating the league’s gambling rules. The league accused him of “disclosing confidential information to sports bettors, limiting his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes, and betting on NBA games.”
Additionally, another Porter brother, Coban Porter, was sentenced to six years in prison on April 19 for a drunk-driving crash that killed a woman and seriously injured her passenger in Colorado last year.
His blood alcohol level was found to be more than twice the legal limit.
Michael Porter Jr., on the other hand, last month opened up about what has been a nightmare couple of weeks for his family.
“Definitely tried to compartmentalize, some bad and sad stuff happened to a couple of my brothers,” he said in late April. “But I got, you know, 15, 16 more brothers in here, so I knew I had to be here for them and come in here and do my job and try to prepare to do it at a high level.”
Porter Jr. added that he had received text messages of support from his teammates, saying “they got my back if I needed anything, they got me”.
“To have these guys understand why I missed practice yesterday and just had my back has been big for me,” he said.
