Anthony Edwards Addresses Viral Trash Talk With Kevin Durant

Anthony Edwards has addressed the moment he started chirping at Kevin Durant after hitting a series of shots over him in Game 1 of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ first-round series win against the Phoenix Suns.

Edwards’ heroics, which included 18 points in the third quarter, were instrumental in the Timberwolves securing a commanding 120-95 victory and a 1-0 series lead.

“I think everybody here knows that’s my favourite player of all time,” Edwards said of Durant postgame.

“That was probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life, for sure.”

The Wolves star also heaped plenty of praise on Durant.

“He made 4, 5 straight buckets like it was nothing,” he said. “And I became a fan at one point, like I was out there like, ‘god damn, he nice.’…He’s the greatest to ever do it, man…He’s the best.”

Edwards has previously stated that he was especially excited to play the Suns in the first round because he was going up against future Team USA teammates Durant and Devin Booker.

“Now that I know those two guys will be playing alongside me at the Olympics, it’s kind of bragging rights at this point,” he told ESPN’s Malika Andrews earlier this week. “So that’s as much ammo as I need.”

In the same interview, Edwards said the Suns were exactly who he wanted to match up with in the postseason.

“This is the matchup I wanted personally because they got two of the best 2-guards in the league,” he told Andrews. “Book been the best 2-guard in the league for a minute.”

The Wolves and Suns will meet again for Game 2 on Tuesday.
