LeBron James has taken issue with ESPN’s latest NBA mock draft featuring his son Bronny, who was moved from the 2024 draft class to 2025 in the writeup.
But LeBron’s issue seemed to be with the frequent reporting on Bronny’s NBA future.
“Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball,” James said in a since-deleted post on X. “The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!
“And to all the other kids out there striving to be great just keep your head down, blinders on and keep grinding. These Mock Drafts doesn’t matter one bit! I promise you! Only the WORK MATTERS!! Let’s talk REAL BASKETBALL.”
James’ being defensive of his son is more than understandable. And yet, even he must know that reporters can’t simply stop doing their jobs and avoid reporting on an NBA draft prospect, especially one who is the son of arguably the greatest player of all-time.
Then again, we shouldn’t expect perfect logic from anyone when they’re so emotionally tied up in a situation. The most important thing here is that LeBron has his son’s back.
