Isaiah Stewart Suspended, Charges Dropped

Isaiah Stewart

Isaiah Stewart has been suspended for just three games by the NBA for punching Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks at the arena. Stewart threw the punch well before Pistons-Suns tipped off on February 14.

Following the incident, he was arrested by Phoenix police, issued a citation and released.

But the misdemeanour assault charge has since been dismissed by the Phoenix Municipal Court, according to ESPN. The motion to dismiss was filed by the prosecutor’s office and granted.

According to Eubanks, he and Stewart began arguing before coming chest-to-chest as Stewart struck him. Security stepped in and Eubanks proceeded to play that night, finishing with six points with eight rebounds in 18 minutes.

Stewart did not play because he had previously suffered an injury unrelated to his altercation with Eubanks. He has now missed eight consecutive games due to an ankle sprain.

Stewart’s run-in with Eubanks wasn’t the first time he has lost his temper and made the headlines as a result.

In November 2021, he charged the length of the court at LeBron James after James had clipped him in the head during the game. Stewart had blood pouring from his head throughout the skirmish.

He made repeated attempts to get to James but was held back by multiple players and officials. Stewart was subsequently suspended for two games.
