Another Star on the Way to Lakers, Per NBA Insider

Lakers fans might be in luck, with another star set to join in the offseason according to ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins.

Perkins made the comments on the latest episode of the Pat McAfee Show.

“The Lakers need to get through this season because another superstar is on the way this summer,” Perkins said. “Now, I can’t reveal who that superstar is… they trust me not to air this information out on who this player is going to be… match made in heaven for Anthony Davis.”

Perkins’ comments are sure to attract a lot of attention in LA, where there is a huge appetite for additional starpower.

It’s been clear all season that the Lakers are not contenders as presently constructed, but the team did not make any trades at the deadline, despite LeBron James pressuring them to do so.

James wanted the Lakers to trade for Dejounte Murray or Zach LaVine — both of whom are Klutch Sports clients — according to The Athletic.

Trae Young is another star player who has been connected to the Lakers in multiple reports.

According to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, the Lakers view Young as a third star who can help push for a championship in the short-term, and also bridge the gap to a new era with Anthony Davis.

There is reportedly a chance the Hawks could make Young available in the offseason. He is currently in the second year of a five-year contract worth $215 million. Young is also a Klutch client.

The Lakers only had one pick to offer ahead of the deadline but will have three in the summer.
