Miami Heat executives have always had a strong appetite for star players, and a knack for getting them too.
According to recent reports, the most likely star player to land in Miami could be Donovan Mitchell.
Here’s what B/R’s Zach Buckley had to say on the matter:
“The Heat have yet to pivot since losing this summer’s Damian Lillard sweepstakes, but they could still be in the market for a high-end shot-creator. Should the Cavs ever put Donovan Mitchell up for grabs, they may not find more young talent than Miami could potentially offer, assuming the Heat would be willing to part with all three of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jović.”
Miami has previously shown interest in Mitchell, while the Cavs may very well put him up for trade considering his eventual departure from Cleveland is widely considered the worst-kept secret in the NBA.
The question for the Heat is whether Mitchell is worth the players they would have to give up.
He’s a big name but has also developed a reputation for not being able to get the job done in the playoffs.
However, Mitchell is averaging 27.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists over 24 games this season.
