LeBron James has never suffered a loss as big as tonight’s.
In what was a highly forgettable night, the Lakers suffered a brutal 138-94 beatdown at the hands of the 76ers on Monday.
James was completely dejected during his postgame media availability, but he did have this to say:
“We got killed on the 3-point line today. We went with our coverages, they made shots. Give them credit.”
Fellow Laker Austin Reaves then offered an especially blunt explanation for the loss:
“They made a lot of 3s, we didn’t,” he said. “They beat the sh*t out of us. I don’t know.”
James and Reaves weren’t kidding when they said three-pointers were a problem for the Lakers.
Philadelphia made 22 threes at 47.8 percent accuracy, while LA made just seven three-pointers at 25 percent.
Meanwhile, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said his team needed to play with more hustle and heart.
“Your competitive spirit has to be at a high level,” Ham said. “It almost has to be bulletproof to a certain degree. You have to meet force with force. They outhustled us.”
The Lakers are now eighth in the Western Conference with a record of 10-8.
They will return to the court when they face the Pistons in Detroit on Wednesday.
