Latvia Basketball Responds to Kristaps Porzingis Injury Reports

A journalist on Twitter reported on Wednesday that Latvia star Kristaps Porzingis is in doubt for the FIBA World Cup and Latvia basketball have since responded to the claims.

Rupert Fabig of Hamburger Abendblatt said that The Unicorn was dealing with a foot injury and that World Cup staff, Boston and Kristaps himself were going to wait until the last minute to make a descision on his participation.

“Exclusive: According to my information, there are growing concerns that Latvia star Kristaps #Porzingis might miss the #FIBAWC due to injury,” Fabig tweeted. “Understood it is something with his foot. Staff, himself and Boston #Celtics will wait until the last moment to make a decision.”

However, in light of the news, the Latvian National team have released a statement.

“There has been information that questions the participation of Kristaps Porzingis in the FIBA World Cup,” they tweeted. “LBS denies this information.

“Both the players’ individual preparation plans and the team’s overall training process are ongoing. The line-up for the match against the Dominican Republic will be announced on August 12.”

On top of that, Porzingis posted on his Instagram story videos of him working out with the team, shooting the ball and dunking.

As you can see from the videos, he seemed to be doing it all with ease and didn’t look to be in any kind of discomfort.

Definitely doesn’t seem like a coincidence that he would post these videos….
