Mac McClung Speaks on Near Triple-Double in Breakout Game for 76ers

Mac McClung

Mac McClung made the most of his opportunity to play major minutes in Philadelphia’s 134-105 win over Brooklyn on Sunday.

While the game may have been of minimal importance for the 76ers and Nets (who are already locked in to face each other in the first round of the playoffs), it was hugely significant for McClung who rarely hits the hardwood.

He finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in 33 minutes.

McClung’s previous career-high was six points, which he scored for the Lakers against the Nuggets almost exactly a year ago.

“Just a blessing, really,” he said postgame. “I feel like we were down in Wilmington (playing in the G League) for so long. It’s hard work down there and it’s a great opportunity for us to get come up here and really just kind of like a reward for all the hard work we’ve done, and really, thanks to coach for letting us play, man. I had the best time out there for us.”

After brief stints with the Lakers and Bulls (as well as the Warriors’ Summer League team), McClung signed a two-way contract with the 76ers on February 14.

Just four days later, he won the NBA Dunk Contest in a Sixers uniform after submitting an electrifying performance.
