Stripper scandals are never good. Just ask Paul George.
But that’s exactly where Ja Morant has found himself, after the Grizzlies star streamed himself flashing a handgun at a Colorado strip club and earned himself a suspension in the process.
Making matters worse was the New York Post reporting that Morant’s gun “absolutely terrified” girls working at the establishment, according to a stripper who spoke to Post and claimed she’d heard complaints from her colleagues.
“He pulled the white boy excuse card: ‘I’m just going through a lot right now, so I’m going to act [like] a fool and put other people’s lives at risk,” the source said.
However, club majority owner Deborah Dunafon had nothing but good things to say about Morant.
“This kid, real young, was exceptionally respectful, and sweet and he did not drink [on his second visit],” she said. “We’ve had [Denver] Nuggets and Broncos … come in and pitch quarters at the girls, be disrespectful and nasty. He’s marvelous.”
Local police say they investigated Morant after he flashed the gun on an Instagram live, but determined there was not enough evidence to charge him with a crime.
Morant has since entered a counseling program in Florida, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
There is still no timetable for his return.
