Donovan Mitchell Says Trade to Knicks ‘Would Have Been Nice’

Three-time NBA all-star Donovan Mitchell – who was recently traded from the Utah Jazz to the Cleveland Cavaliers – said a trade to the New York Knicks “would have been nice,” via NBA.com.

“It would have been nice, but for me, once I found out I got traded and what we’re going into, that trumped everything.”

“I’m truly excited to be here, be part of this group, be part of this city.”

It was long rumored that Mitchell would be traded to his hometown Knicks.

However, Utah and New York weren’t able to get a deal done, and Mitchell was traded to Cleveland for Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, three unprotected first-round picks, and two pick swaps.

Mitchell, 26, averaged 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists last season for the Jazz.

In Cleveland, Mitchell will join a young core of Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, Isaac Okoro, and Caris LeVert.
