Thunder’ GM Sam Presti Says JaMychal Green Will Likely Be Dealt

Oklahoma City Thunder’ general manager Sam Presti says recently-acquired veteran forward JaMychal Green will likely be dealt either before or during the season.

“We’re trying to figure that out – I think we’ll probably find a situation for [Green] that’s not with us,” Presti said in a press conference with reporters, via Thunder’ beat reporter Nick Crain.

“It’s not because we don’t value him as a player, but because where he is right now.”

Green, 32, averaged 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds for the Denver Nuggets last season.

The Thunder would almost certainly covet Green’s talents if they wanted to compete – but it’s clear that player development is the number one focus in Oklahoma City.

Darius Bazley and recently-drafted picks Chet Holmgren and Ousmane Dieng are just a few of the players Thunder’ execs are hoping to see in Green’s stead.

It seems likely a team with a sizable trade exception will trade for Green’s expiring $8.2 million contract.
