The Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics Thursday night for their fourth title in eight years, but three days later, the champs seemed more focused on trading barbs with the Memphis Grizzlies than enjoying their freshly earned chip.
Klay Thompson kicked things off during the team’s post-win press conference when he referenced a tweet the Grizzlies Jaren Jackson posted after Memphis blew out the Warriors 123-98 on March 28 to clinch the No. 2 seed in the West.
Jackson’s tweet seemingly mocked the Warriors’ old slogan “Strength in numbers.”
“‘Strength in numbers’ is alive and well. There was this one player who tweeted ‘strength in numbers’ after they beat us in the regular season, and it pissed me off so much. I can’t wait to retweet that thing. Freaking bum. I had to watch that like, I’m just like ‘this freaking clown.’ You’re going to mock us? You ain’t ever been there before, bro. We’ve been there. We know what it takes. So to be here again? Hold that.”
“Twitter fingers, can you believe it? I got a memory like an elephant, I don’t forget, and there was a lot of people kicking us while we were down.”

The Grizzlies Jackson and Ja Morant took to Twitter after Thompson’s comment.

Draymond Green jumped into the conversation two days later, and he and Ja Morant were still trading tweets early Sunday morning as to who was taking up real estate in whose head.
We traded that real estate in @JaMorant the property value was higher in Boston https://t.co/X7Du6zSiZF

The back and forth led to the natural conclusion that their beef would have to be finished on the court, preferably a Christmas Day matchup.

The new Warriors-Grizzlies rivalry looks to be as entertaining off the court as it is on the court.
