Evan Mobley ROY Watch; Cavs Win Nail-Biter vs. Celtics

Evan Mobley ROY Watch

Cleveland Cavaliers’ big-man Evan Mobley continued to build a case for this season’s Rookie of the Year award with an impressive performance against the Boston Celtics on Saturday night.

Mobley posted a 19 point, nine rebound, and three block stat-line in the Cavs’ 91-89 win.

He also led Cleveland with a team-high +- of plus 16.

Through 14 games this season, Mobley has averaged 15.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks.

In a normal draft class, Mobley’s stat line might seem obviously worthy of Rookie of the Year consideration.

However, this year’s draft class is anything but ordinary.

Mobley will likely contend for ROY honors with Toronto Raptors’ forward Scottie Barnes (16.2PPG, 8.3RPG) and Indiana Pacers’ sharpshooter Chris Duarte (14.3PPG on 40% shooting from three) – as well as top picks Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green; who have gotten off to slow starts with Detroit and Houston respectively.

The greatest argument for Mobley is his team’s success; the Cavs have skyrocketed up the standings after a 9-5 start to the season.

Barring injury, it seems almost assured that Mobley’s name will be in the ROY conversation.
