The Boston Celtics have suspended all-defensive guard Marcus Smart for Friday’s preseason game vs. the Miami Heat for “breaching a team rule” per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The matter has reportedly been resolved, and Smart has traveled with the team to Miami.

Last season, Smart averaged 13.1 points, 5.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals on 40% shooting from the field.

The Celtics signed Smart to a four-year extension worth $77 million this offseason.

Smart is expected to play a larger role within the Celtics’ offense due to the trading away of Kemba Walker.

The Celtics will likely be without Jaylen Brown (Health & Safety Protocols) and Al Horford (Health & Safety Protocols) on Friday.
