Preston, the number 33 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, rose up draft boards after a huge growth spurt – and an impressive Junior year performance with the Ohio Bobcats in which he averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists.

Preston, 22, was expected to play more than fellow Clippers’ rookies Keon Johnson (19) and Brandon Boston Jr. (19) because of his age.

But now, it seems Preston will be sidelined for a large portion of the season.

In his stead, the Clippers will look to Terrance Mann, Luke Kennard, and Reggie Jackson to be significant contributors at the backup guard position.
