Rockets’ Green, Sengun Impress On First Day of Summer League

Jalen Green Summer League

The Houston Rockets’ top two picks in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jalen Green (#2) and Alperen Sengun (#16), boasted impressive performances in the team’s Summer League opening win against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Green scored a game-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists; Sengun had 15 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks.

Cavaliers’ rookie Evan Mobley, the number three pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, scored just 12 points on 6-17 shooting from the field.

Houston was without Usman Garuba, the number 23 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, because he had just finished competing with the Spanish National Team at the Tokyo Olympics.

All four of Houston’s 2021 first round picks are 19 years old; second-year player Kenyon Martin Jr. is 20 and third-year player Kevin Porter Jr. is 21 – which serves to say that the youth movement is fully underway in H-Town.

The Rockets’ next Summer League game is on Tuesday 8/10 at 6PM EST against the Detroit Pistons.
