Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has emerged as the betting favorite to win NBA MVP over 2-time reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo at U.S. Sportsbooks.
Betters are being drawn to the young Slovenian star as the new season is less than a week away from tipping off.
On Nov. 10, both Doncic and Giannis were co-favorites at +550 at Caesers Sportbook by William Hill.
Since that was reported, Doncic has attracted twice the bets and twice the money as any other player to become the solo favorite at +400.
Giannis is now listed at +450, followed by Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry (+750), and Lakers stars Anthony Davis (+800) and LeBron James (+850).
In fact, Doncic has the attention of more betters at William Hill than Giannis, Davis, and James combined.
PointsBet, another American sportsbook operator, has one out of every three bets placed on Doncic, who is coming off a breakout second season with a great showing against the LA Clippers in the 2020 playoffs.
“I thought he should have finished higher than he did last year in the [MVP] voting,” said Jeff Sherman, a longtime NBA oddsmaker for the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas.
