LeBron James Addresses Danny Green’s Wide Open Three-Point Miss

LeBron James was just seconds away from his fourth championship, in Game 5 against the Miami Heat before fate stepped in.

James drove into the lane as three defenders collapsed on him, leaving Danny Green wide open for a game winning 3-point attempt, but Green missed and the Heat closed out the game with free throws.

Despite the miss, James still believes passing to the wide open Green was the right play to make.

He just missed the shot.

“I mean, if you just look at the play, I was able to draw two defenders below the free throw line and find one of our shooters at the top of the key for a wide-open 3 to win a championship,” James said after finishing with a gaudy stat line of 15-for-21 shooting, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. “I trusted him, we trusted him, and it just didn’t go.“

Green was brought in to hit those shots as he did in the past for San Antonio and Toronto.

Still, James and the Lakers’ confidence in Green hasn’t wavered, who has struggled with his shot in the playoffs and has become the epicenter of tweets directed towards him.

“You live with that. You live with that. It’s one of the best shots that we could have got. … Danny had a hell of a look. It just didn’t go down. I know he wishes he can have it again.”

Green could have a chance at redemption in Game 6, and if it comes down to Green taking the last shot, James trusts his teammate.
