James Dolan Donated to Opponent of U.S. Representative Who Called on Him to Sell Knicks

James Dolan isn’t happy with what incumbent Democratic Staten Island Representative Max Rose had to say about the sorry-state of the New York Knicks.

In retaliation for Rose’s “sell the Knicks” comments, Dolan decided to contribute funds to his political rival, GOP Congressional candidate Nicole Malliotakis.

“Max Rose thinks he can make our team and my ownership his political platform,” Dolan wrote in a personal email to friends last week, according to The Post.

“I need to let him know that we will not stand for this. The best way to do this is to help his opponent. He is in a tight race for the US Congress in Staten Island. … Please join me in helping Nicole defeat Max Rose for Congress.”

Rose responded with a much more light-hearted take.

“Glad to see James Dolan is taking his talents to boost Nicole’s campaign. God knows he’s got the Midas touch. Never forget the Eddy Curry trade!” Rose.

“Proud to say that I don’t take money from corporate PACs, federal lobbyists, or worst of all — James Dolan.”

Max Rose is far from the first person to incite the wrath of James Dolan’s wallet and he won’t be the last.
