Rajon Rondo has fractured his right thumb, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Lakers point guard suffered the injury during practice at Walt Disney World on Sunday.
Rondo is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, and will miss six-to-eight weeks.
The NBA’s season is set to resume on July 30 after more than four months off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Lakers currently hold a Western Conference leading 49-14 record.
Sunday night’s practice was just their second since arriving in Florida.
The Lakers will already be with Avery Bradley, who opted-out of the season.
They signed JR Smith to replace him for the rest of the year.
