Victor Oladipo Trade Rumors: Is the Pacers Star on the Block?

Victor Oladipo Trade Rumors

Reports suggest that the Indiana Pacers may be looking to deal star guard Victor Oladipo in the off-season.

Oladipo was taken second overall in the 2013 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic, then traded three years later to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 2017, Oladipo was traded alongside Domantas Sabonis to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Paul George.

At the time of the trade, many pundits regarded the Thunder as the clear winners.

George was viewed as a top-10 player, while Oladipo found himself bouncing to his second team in as many years.

But Oladipo proved his critics wrong in his first season with the Pacers, averaging career highs in PPG(23.1), SPG(2.4), FG%(.528), and 3P%(.371).

Oladipo played so well that many started to think that his contract was a steal for the Pacers at four years, $85 million.

All signs pointed to Oladipo receiving a big payday in 2021 when his contract is going to be up.

Then, the star guard suffered a ruptured quad tendon that sidelined him for more than a year.

Oladipo only played 13 games in the 2019-20 season.

Now Ian Begley of theKnicksBlog is reporting that the Pacers may be looking to deal Oladipo.

Begley also suggests that the Knicks and Nets are two possible destinations.

Indiana is very close to being over the cap for the 2021-22 season due to huge contracts dealt to Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner, T.J. Warren, Jeremy Lamb, and Domantas Sabonis.

Whether or not the Pacers preemptively deal Oladipo to stay below the cap remains to be seen.
