If at the start of the season you told me the San Antonio Spurs would become even slightly or momentarily dysfunctional, I would likely have issued a restraining order against you immediately.
And yet here we are, with the Spurs finding themselves on a completely different wavelength to Kawhi Leonard and his camp when it comes to returning from his right quad injury.
But Gregg Popovich is hoping to put the strange and ongoing drama to bed when he meets with his embattled star player on Tuesday.
“I’ll see Kawhi tomorrow,” Popovich told reporters on Monday.
“We’ll see how he’s feeling, and see how ready he is, and see how ready I think he is. And we’ll go from there.”
Hopefully a Pop heart-to-heart will smooth over any disturbances in the force the Spurs might’ve experienced with Kawhi lately.
It certainly seemed to work with LaMarcus Aldridge.
