The Dallas Mavericks have undergone another major ownership change, with Patrick Dumont and his wife, Sivan Ochshorn, purchasing Miriam Adelson’s shares to become the franchise’s controlling owners.
The deal was completed last month and gives the Dumont family a 69% ownership stake in the franchise, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon,
Adelson, who purchased the Mavericks alongside the Dumont family from Mark Cuban in December 2023, has now sold her shares to her daughter and son-in-law.
Cuban, meanwhile, retains his 27% stake in the team, while Mary Stanton, widow of an original shareholder, owns the remaining 4%.
Dumont has served as the Mavericks’ governor since the original ownership change and has increasingly taken charge of the franchise’s basketball and business operations.
Speaking to ESPN, he outlined his vision for the organisation, including plans for a new arena in Dallas.
“It’s really about long-term investment in the city of Dallas,” Dumont said.
“The Dumont family is really committed to building what we hope is the best arena in the NBA, a really significant investment in the city that will help create the new 40-year home for the Dallas Mavericks, a great experience for our fans and inspire our team to win championships.”
The franchise is targeting a move into its new arena for the 2031-32 season, with plans to develop an entertainment district at the former Valley View Mall site.
Dumont also addressed Cuban’s continued involvement with the franchise, after the former majority owner publicly expressed frustration with how things have unfolded since the 2023 sale.
“I just have to tell you, I love Mark. He’s been a great family friend for a really long time,” Dumont said.
“He’s just a super passionate Mavs fan and he’s frustrated. I respect it. We’re going to hopefully do him proud. That’s my goal — to make all of our Mavs fans super proud about the success of the team and win a championship.”
Dumont also indicated he intends to eventually purchase another 20% stake from Cuban, which would further increase his family’s control of the franchise.
On the court, Dallas is attempting to rebuild around Cooper Flagg after the controversial Luka Doncic trade and a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
The Mavericks are currently 4-3 to start the season as the franchise enters another new chapter under the Dumont family’s control.
