Draymond Green Defends LeBron James Over Helicopter Criticisms

LeBron James has ruffled a few feathers with his chosen mode of transport from New York to Philadelphia since signing with the 76ers.

But someone who will always stand by LeBron, Draymond Green, has hit back at the critics.

“Let that man fly in peace,” Green said on his podcast. “Like y’all recording this man every time he takes off and lands, and he’s landing in the city and leaving…I mean, let that man fly in peace. Let that brother go to work, how he get to work and get home, how he going to get home.

“Must be slow news days, man, making this man’s method of transportation a thing. Let that man come and go as he pleases in peace. People are so nosy.”

He added, “Incredible to be of that stature to have those types of deals because in catering to that lifestyle, it has its benefits and this is one of them. But can we please stop making how this guy gets to work a thing? That s–t’s kind of weird,” he added.

In an exert from an article titled LeBron James is everything Philadelphia wants. And everything it can’t stand, The Guardian’s Bryan Armen Graham explains why the helicopoter decison doesn’t sit right with the people of Philadelphia (or environmentalists).

“The Leonardo AW139, supplied through his sponsorship arrangement with Michael Rubin’s sports merchandising empire, has become James’s preferred mode of transport between the two cities. Publicly available flight-tracking data showed 18 trips between Manhattan and Northeast Philadelphia Airport in the first days of October alone.

Maybe the charms of Philly will tempt LeBron to for longer than a game or a practice session.
