LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers are going to spend a lot of time on the road this season.
Philadelphia is projected to make 62 separate trips during the 2026-27 regular season, more than any other team in the NBA, according to an analysis from CanadaSportsBetting.ca cited by ClutchPoints.
It adds another challenge to James’ first season in Philadelphia and the 24th year of his NBA career, with the Sixers set to pack their bags more frequently than every other team in the league.
However, while Philadelphia leads the NBA in total trips, it doesn’t come close to topping the league in overall distance traveled.
The Sixers are projected to cover 41,320 miles throughout the regular season, which ranks just 19th among the league’s 30 teams, according to CanadaSportsBetting.ca.
Memphis sits just behind Philadelphia with 61 projected trips, but the Grizzlies are expected to travel 46,097 miles, nearly 5,000 more than the Sixers.
Milwaukee and Cleveland are next with 60 trips each, while New Orleans, Utah and Indiana are all projected to make 59. San Antonio follows with 58.
The Pelicans face the longest overall journey of any team, with their schedule projected to require 55,531 miles of travel. San Antonio ranks second at 53,948 miles, despite making four fewer trips than Philadelphia, while Utah is projected to cover 49,291 miles.
The study calculated the numbers by mapping each regular-season road game from a team’s previous location to its next destination. Researchers used the geographic coordinates of NBA arenas to estimate the direct distance of every leg before combining them for season-long totals, including games scheduled in Paris and Mexico City.
The figures don’t account for exact flight paths, connections or the private charter arrangements teams may use throughout the season.
Still, Philadelphia’s schedule stands out for a different reason.
The Sixers won’t travel the most miles in the NBA, but no team is projected to hit the road more often during the 2026-27 season.
