Victor Wembanyama Targeted by Angry Knicks Fans

Wembanyama (26)

Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs nightmare night didn’t end when the final buzzer sounded at Madison Square Garden.

Just hours after the San Antonio Spurs blew a 29-point lead in a devastating Game Four loss to the New York Knicks, the Spurs superstar was met by a hostile crowd outside his hotel in Manhattan.

A video circulating online showed Knicks fans crowding the entrance as Wembanyama arrived with security. During the commotion, an egg was thrown in his direction, narrowly missing him before smashing against a nearby street sign.

The footage appeared to show Wembanyama briefly turning around to confront someone near the hotel entrance before continuing inside. It remains unclear who threw the object or whether it made contact with the Spurs star.

The incident came as emotions boiled over across New York following one of the most dramatic games in NBA Finals history. The Knicks erased a 29-point deficit to stun San Antonio 107-106 and move within one win of their first championship since 1973.

Wembanyama endured a difficult finish to the game, including two missed free throws in the closing minutes as the Spurs collapsed late.

The celebrations throughout New York quickly spilled into the streets after the victory. Large crowds gathered around Madison Square Garden, with fans setting off fireworks, climbing street poles and creating chaotic scenes throughout the city.

The aftermath led to dozens of arrests.

“Once again, there were large crowds of people who engaged in incredibly reckless and dangerous behavior last night both during and after the game,” the New York Police Department said in a statement.
