Kendrick Perkins has made the bold claim that Grizzlies star Ja Morant could find himself jobless if he isn’t careful.
Morant was in line to be the next face of the league, which was marred by some off-field incidents and his last few seasons de-railed with injuries.
It’s clear Memphis has has enough of Ja’s antics, but Perkins says the rest of the NBA is just as a fed up.
“It ain’t just Memphis that’s trending off Ja Morant,” said Perkins on Road Trippin’. “It’s the league. So you realize that they were trying to trade him at the trade deadline. And when nobody wanted him, they were asking Memphis to attach a first-round pick just for them to take Ja. That’s how he’s viewed in today’s game.”
He added, “Aye, man, the NBA don’t need you. You’re a hell of a talent. I’m speaking to you f*** as a media personality. Nah, bro, I’m actually coming at you as a real one. Hey, bro, the NBA don’t need you.”
At the deadline, the Grizzlies weren’t even able to drum up enough interest to trade Ja, even though they clearly wanted to.
“If he don’t get his s*** together, he’s gonna be one of the biggest disappointments in NBA history…, the former NBA champion said. “The trade deadline should’ve been a wake-up call. Now this s*** that happened in Memphis should’ve been another wake-up call. If they can’t trade him, he ain’t going to be back in Memphis next year, so we could take that how we take it.”
But wait, Perk wasn’t done.
“With this draft class coming in they’re full of franchise guys. So teams are saying we’re not going to put up with nothing, put up with s***. You got guys that are coming in not just this draft, next year draft, the draft after that. I just saw a video f***** circulate they got another Wemby in France right now at 15 years old. There is levels to this sh*t to team valuing guys it is not crazy to think in 2 years from now that Ja Morant is not on a team that can really happen,” Perkins said.
