Dennis Schroder Hit With 3-Game Ban After Luka Doncic Drama

Sacramento Kings point guard Dennis Schroder has been suspended three games by the NBA following a postgame incident that reportedly involved Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic.

The league announced the discipline Saturday, stating that Schroder “confronted and attempted to strike another player” after Sacramento’s Dec. 28 loss to the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena.

The incident occurred in a hallway away from the court following the game, which the Lakers won 125–101, according to the NBA.

While the league did not publicly identify the other player involved, it’s reported that the individual was Doncic, according to Prime Video NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Haynes added that Schroder sought out the Lakers guard after the final buzzer, escalating a verbal exchange that had already been brewing during the game, per his reporting.

Schroder and Doncic were seen jawing at each other on the floor throughout the contest, with multiple moments of visible trash talk.

The tension appeared to stem from comments Doncic made that touched on a long-running storyline in Schroder’s career, one that dates back to his first stint with the Lakers.

During that tenure, Schroder was widely rumored to have turned down a four-year, $84 million extension to test free agency. Schroder has consistently denied that such an offer ever existed, but the narrative has followed him ever since.

The suspension is scheduled to begin with Sacramento’s game against the Houston Rockets on Sunday. If served without appeal, Schroder will also miss matchups against the Lakers and New York Knicks, making him eligible to return against the Washington Wizards next Friday.
