Giannis Dismisses NY Rumors After Dominant Display Against Knicks

Antetokounmpo (16)

Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t going anywhere, at least not yet. After another dominant performance against the New York Knicks, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar once again dismissed speculation linking him to a potential move to New York.

Following Milwaukee’s 121–111 win over the Knicks, Antetokounmpo was quick to brush off the trade chatter that has surrounded him since the offseason.

“Who said that? I don’t read that,” Giannis told reporters after the game. “I’m here, representing my team, and that’s it.”

The comments came in response to an ESPN report earlier this year suggesting the two-time MVP was open to a trade. But Antetokounmpo, who has made loyalty to Milwaukee a defining part of his career, made it clear that winning is his only focus.

“We beat the Knicks. What matters right now is that we have a game in two days against Golden State. Stay locked in and get two games in a row,” he said. “I didn’t read that article. I try to stay away from all that rumors, speculation, and trades. That doesn’t concern me.”

Through four games, the Bucks are off to a 3–1 start, and Giannis has been nothing short of unstoppable. He’s averaging 36.3 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists per game while shooting 69 percent from the field, and an eye-popping 57 percent from three-point range, according to Justin Grasso.

Tuesday night’s win wasn’t just about silencing the rumor mill; it was about sending a message. The Knicks had Milwaukee’s number last season, but this time, Giannis made sure history didn’t repeat itself.

“I’m here to compete,” he said. “I play for my teammates, for this city. Everything else will come when it comes.”

The league may still be waiting for the so-called “Giannis bubble” to burst, but as long as he keeps playing at an MVP level, that wait looks set to continue.
