The 32-year-old averaged 24.7 points and 11.6 rebounds over 51 games in his first season with Dallas.
He anchored an elite defensive unit despite missing significant time with core issues.
Now healthy, Davis will headline one of the league’s most imposing frontcourts alongside rookie phenom Cooper Flagg and Derrick Lively II.
Davis was originally traded to Dallas last summer in a blockbuster move that reshaped the Western Conference. He had spent four seasons with the Lakers before joining Luka Dončić and the Mavericks’ push for contention.
With the detached retina repaired and months remaining before training camp, all signs point to Davis being a full participant when the season tips off in October.
