Cameron Payne’s Hilarious Arrest Tape Gets Released: VIDEO

Payne's

Out of all the NBA arrest tapes that we have seen, Cameron Payne’s might just be one of the funniest.

The Knicks guard was arrested back in June in Scottsdale, Arizona, for giving police officers a false report and refusing to give his name.

The police arrived on the scene after claims the 30-year-old was in a verbal dispute with his girlfriend. In the video it is revealed that Payne himself was the one who called the cops.

The Scottsdale Police Department body camera video shows that once cops arrived on the scene Payne and his girlfriend both insisted that everything was all good.

The officers then asked Payne for his name, to which he responded with, “I don’t have to tell you my name. I’m okay.”

Payne and the officer went and back-and-forth for a while, with the officer explaining he needs to give his name as its against the law if he doesn’t.

‘Terry Johnson’ was the name he eventually came up with and when pressed, also gave out a fake birthday.

For almost ten minutes, Payne held firm on the name and the police kept telling him if he was lying they’d have to arrest him.

He finally admitted he was lying and the officers called him out.

“That was – that was dumb,” one of the officers says.

The officer said as he tightened the cuffs, “That was the dumbest way to get arrested, man. Like, I’ve had people get arrested for some dumb stuff, but this is at the top of the list.”

After Payne was taken to the squad car, Payne’s girlfriend tried to defend his lies.

“That’s what he goes by,” she said. “That’s his alias. He cannot give out his [real] name in general public because he’s an NBA player. He cannot give out – he never gives out his [real] name. He goes by one name. When we go to clubs or hotels, it’s always by one name.”

Court records show he was charged with two criminal counts over the incident, one count of obstruction – refuse true name, and one count of false information.

He’s due for a hearing on the matter in November.
