Kelly Oubre Jr.’s Accident Under Internal Police Investigation: Report

Oubre

Kelly Oubre Jr. caused a car accident earlier in the week and now there has been an internal police investigation launched due to suspicious circumstances, TMZ reports.

Oubre ran a red light in Philadelphia on Monday night following the Sixers’ Game 2 loss to the Knicks.

The 28-year-old hit a 2023 Hyundai Elantra with the purple Lamborghini he was driving and both cars had to be towed from the scene.

Luckily, no one was injured, but the police that attended the scene may need to provide some answers.

“TMZ Sports has learned — the PPD’s Internal Affairs Division is looking into the handling of Monday night’s crash involving Oubre and another driver … specifically officers’ response and actions while at the scene.”

“…Despite law enforcement saying Oubre committed a traffic violation, he was not issued a ticket … nor was he given a breathalyzer or blood test to determine if alcohol or drugs played a factor.”

The outlet went on to conclude that it seems like “PPD is now trying to figure out whether Oubre received any special treatment at the scene … due to his status as a prominent professional athlete in the area.”

Despite the crash, Oubre played in Game 3 of the first-round playoff series against the Knicks and spoke about the accident afterwards.

“Everything is good,” Oubre told reporters Thursday night. “I’m OK. The people that were involved are OK. I need to probably get a driver or something and just stay off the roads, (not) be behind the wheel. But everything is good. I still was able to do my job, support my family, and things are good.”

It might be wise for Oubre to stay off the roads at this point, considering it is his second accident since he signed with Philly.
