It was a big week for Bronny James last week as he declared for the NBA Draft, and the NCAA transfer portal and former All-Star Baron Davis thinks LeBron’s eldest son made the right decision in doing so.
James hasn’t had super notable freshman season at USC, but in fairness, he has been recovering from serious heart problems and was starting games from the bench.
So we may not have seen his full potential.
Davis thinks Bronny’s decision is a good one and explained to TMZ the reasons why Bronny may respond better in an NBA environment.
“For him, declaring for the draft would be good because he may be a better pro than he is a college player,” Davis said. “The program is a lot different, it’s more free-flowing, you’re not coached every moment, you not playing zone all the time. So from what I’ve seen from Bronny, he’s athletic and a smart point guard, he can shoot the ball, so if I was him, I’d try my hand too, and if I don’t like what I see, now I can go back into the portal and go somewhere and rock.”
The former Golden State Warrior also went on to point out how incredible it would be to see the league’s all-time greatest scorer team up with his son on the NBA court.
“I want to see Bronny and LeBron play on the same team,” Davis said. “That’ll be hard. Like Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. That sh*t would be hella hard.”
It is a team-up that the whole NBA world is waiting to see happen and it has long been a dream of LeBron’s, one he has publicly spoken about numerous times.
The 2024 NBA Draft is one of the weakest in recent history, so having Bronny declare would certainly liven things up.
If he does decide to stay at college, there is a narrative fans would also love to see, which involves the 19-year-old transfering to Ohio State – the state LeBron hails from.
So many potential prophecies to fulfil for Bronny. As LeBron said last week, his son has got some “tough decisions to make.”
