Chet Holmgren Explains What He Admires Most About LeBron James

Chet Holmgren is one of the NBA rookies with the brightest futures and he’s pinpointed something about LeBron James he hopes he can emulate throughout his career.

Dating back to his high school days, LeBron has, and continues to have, an impeccable reputation with the media and has stayed right out of trouble off the court.

The same can’t be said for other NBA GOAT’s like Michael Jordan, who has experienced his fair share of media scandals in his time.

But not LeBron. And this is something that Holmgren wants to model in his own young career.

“I don’t even want to say this because it’d be taken the wrong way, but I want to move like a gangster,” Holmgren said, per Thunder beat reporter Joel Lorenzi. “Like LeBron, the way he moves, that’s gangster to me. He don’t (expletive) around. He has all his people with him. They handle their business, he handles his. And they go about things the right way. You never hear nothing wrong about them in the social media world and in the ESPN world, none of that.”

“Just watching that (and) trying to move similar is super important, because at the end of the day, nothing off the court can hurt you more than the distractions of sh*t around and having something goofy happy. With how focused I am on the court, I don’t want to take away from that by doing something stupid.”

Holmgren knows all too well how damaging an off-court scandal can be, since he saw his OKC teammate Josh Giddey go through one this season.

21-year-old Holmgren is clearly hoping to uphold a high standard of behavior off the court, just like LeBron has.

On the court, Chet has been impressive in his official first year in the league and is averaging 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists per game on 53.5 percent shooting from the field.
