The Sixers are off to a flying 6-1 start to the season, and Joel Embiid wants you to remember they’ve done it all without James Harden.
Philly have now racked up six wins in a row, with their big man Joel Embiid leading the charge.
Embiid spoke on why he thinks his team has the second-best record in the league right now and without naming him, seemingly takes a subtle jab at his old teammate James Harden.
“I think it’s a lot of credit to the culture that we have,” Embiid said. “No one has an ego on this team. We got new guys, we took them in, we got them up to speed. I think the fact that guys want to play with each other and they like being around each other, I think it helps a lot, too. Guys are unselfish, the ball is moving no matter if the shots are going in or not. Guys are just happy, just worried about the right things—which is to win. That’s the only thing that matters and that’s the only thing that should matter.”
The funny thing is, some NBA fans would argue Embiid has quite the ego himself.
The reigning MVP is leading the entire league in scoring so far, after averaging 31.7 points per game.
He is also averaging 10.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists, as well as 2.3 blocks.
Meanwhile, his old buddy Harden has endured a rough start to his stint with the Clippers, since they’ve gone 0-2.
