The Warriors are wanting to return to their former glory after a rocky season in 2022-23 and Draymond Green and Chris Paul are leading the charge.
The NBA has introduced an in-season tournament for the first time and Green and CP3 have made their intentions about it very clear, via Warriors president Brandon Schneider.
“I said to [Warriors general manager] Mike Dunleavy about a month ago, I said, ‘Hey Mike, what do you think about this in-season tournament?’ He said, ‘Well, Draymond Green and Chris Paul told me we’re going to win it,’ Schnieder said per NBC Sports Bay Area. “I said, ‘OK, that’s all I needed to know.’ ”
Some NBA fans on X trolled CP3 for the comments and said things along the lines of, “Notice how he didn’t say finals”.
The in-season tournament is well before the NBA Finals, so the no doubt the confidence Green and Paul have about it will carry over to their championship aspirations.
Green has said that one of his goals for the season is to get the point god his first NBA championship, and with the host of veterans that Golden State have brought in, that is certainly what the team is working toward.
The inaugural In-Season Tournament will begin on Friday, Nov. 3 and culminate with the Championship on Saturday, Dec. 9, so with the season beginning on October 24, new-look teams will have had a chance to get some solid playing time under their belt before it begins.
The Tournament is made up of two stages: Group Play and the Knockout Rounds.
The Dubs will host the Timberwolves (Nov. 14) and Spurs (Nov. 24) in Group Play games at Chase Center, and their road games will be against the Oklahoma City Thunder (Nov. 3) and Kings (Nov. 28).
