Steve Kerr Addresses Starting Chris Paul for Warriors

Paul Warriors

The NBA world will be very interested to see how the Warriors will play it this season and whether incoming veteran Chris Paul will get a start.

It seems a decision on whether Paul will start hasn’t been made, judging by Steve Kerr’s latest comments.

Whatever he decides, Kerr knows that all his stars need to comply in order for the franchise to chase another championship.

“We basically have six starters the way I look at it,” Kerr said. “Only five can go each night, so I haven’t decided yet what we’re gonna do. I wanna see training camp. We’re gonna try different combinations and take a look. Obviously all six guys are gonna play a lot of minutes for us. If this is gonna work, everybody has to embrace it, regardless of who is starting and who’s not. It only works if the whole team buys in. I know these guys well. I know five of them really well, and I’m getting to know Chris. One thing I know about all of them, is they want to win more than anything.”

Steph Curry will certainly be starting but between other stars like Paul, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney – Kerr has a lot to sort out come training camp.

Paul could play in the starting lineup instead of Looney if Kerr wanted to play small ball, but the opportunity to get plenty of rebounds early is then lost.

One thing is for sure, this group of seasoned veterans are committed to the cause.

New general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. explained just how dedicated Paul has been since joining the fold.

“There are times in August where we had young guys in and Steph was in, Chris Paul took a Southwest flight at 6 a.m. to be up here for a workout one day,” Dunleavy Jr. told AZ Central. “So, these guys are all in on making it work and us having a great season.”

The team’s first test will be in the preseason against the Lakers on October 7. The very team who eliminated them in the second round of last season’s playoffs.

Then on opening night, Paul will face his old team Phoenix on the Warriors home court.

Talk about a baptism of fire.

The start of the season can’t come quick enough!
