76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey has discussed his frustration with the team’s offense.
Morey expressed confusion over the team’s inability to stick to their Joel Embiid-James Harden pick-and-roll when it’s working.
His comments were seen by some as a dig at head coach Doc Rivers, who has previously faced intense scrutiny for a variety of reasons.
Morey also discussed the chemistry between Harden and Embiid, admitting that he had underestimated how long it would take for them to develop a strong rapport on the court.
Daryl Morey also gets confused as to why the Sixers get away from Harden-Embiid PnR:
“And then there will be times you’re just like… why aren’t we doing the thing that’s working really well?”

“I did underestimate the time it was going to take for Joel and James to develop a chemistry,” Morey said on The Rights to Ricky Sanchez Podcast by Draft Kings. “Again, this is another place I like to see that consistency because when we have it humming it’s really humming, and you guys who watch every minute like I do have seen it.
“Then there will be times you’re just like, ‘Wait, why aren’t we doing the thing that’s working really well? What’s happening?’ I think I’d like to get more consistency there.”
Despite this, Morey was clear in his belief that when his two stars are playing at their best, the team is virtually unstoppable.
