Anthony Davis Finally Explains Why He Sat on Bench as LeBron Broke Record

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis raised some eyebrows when he sat dejected on the bench while the rest of the Lakers were on their feet to celebrate LeBron James breaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record on Tuesday.

But Davis says it had absolutely nothing to do with his relationship with LeBron.

“Come on now, you know me and Bron’s relationship,” Davis told reporters after Thursday’s 115-106 loss to the Bucks on Thursday.

“I was sad about the game. I mean we’re losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a game we needed, and I was pissed off that we were losing. It had nothing to do with Bron. He knows that.”

It was undeniably a strange look, considering the enormity of James’ achievement, but Davis is not wrong when he says LA needed that win.

Now at 25-31, the Lakers have the third-worst record in the West and are two and a half games out of the play-in.

They will have to hope the additions of D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt and Mo Bamba can spark a turning point in their increasingly grim season.
