“I am fortunate enough to be declaring for the 2022 NBA draft,” Sochan told ESPN.

Sochan is one of the youngest players in his class at just 18 years old.

In 30 games at Baylor, Sochan averaged 9.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on 47%/30%/59% shooting splits.

Sochan projects as an elite defensive prospect with intangible size on the perimeter and intangible skills in the interior.

Scouts posit that Sochan could excel as a small-ball five in the current NBA; although it’s likely he’ll enter the league as a combo-forward.

“This season had a lot of ups and downs,” Sochan said.

“We were unlucky with injuries, but it was a great opportunity for me to grow and an opportunity to show the NBA my toughness and versatility on both ends. I came into this season with intentions to make myself better and help the team win.”

It seems unlikely Sochan will fall out of the lottery considering his unique skillset.

However, teams will have to seriously consider Sochan’s offensive ceiling.
