Collin-Sexton-Injury

Cleveland Cavaliers’ guard Collin Sexton is going to miss the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season while rehabilitating a torn meniscus.

The Cavaliers were hopeful that Sexton might avoid surgery – but further medical imaging showed surgery was the best option.

Sexton, 22, had a breakthrough 2020-21 season; averaging 24.3 points and 4.4 assists on 48% shooting from the field.

The injury comes at a horrible time for Sexton as he was unable to come to terms with the Cavs on a long-term contract extension.

As of now, it seems possible Sexton might accept a qualifying offer for next season at ~$8.6 million.

If Sexton was healthy, he would have certainly garnered a multi-year contract offer between – at the very least – $80 and $120 million.

In Sexton’s absence, the Cavs will look to third-year guard Darius Garland and veteran guard Ricky Rubio to carry the load in the backcourt.
