Jaylen Brown Breaks Franchise Record; Celtics Lose in 2OT

Jaylen Brown Scores 46

Jaylen Brown set a franchise record on Wednesday night for most points scored in a season-opener with 46  – but it wasn’t enough to get the Celtics the win.

“I don’t know how I did it,” Brown said after the game, via NBA.com.

Brown tested positive for COVID-19 on October 18 and was sidelined for ~10 days.

“I spent a lot of time in quarantine, thinking about when I was going to get back out there, just imagining, seeing the game, visualizing. And some shots fell tonight. I only had 24 hours to prepare. My breathing felt irregular but fine for the most part. Towards the end, I could feel my heartbeat through my chest.”

The Celtics’ franchise record for most points scored in a season-opening game was 35 (Paul Pierce, Bob Cousy).

Obviously, Brown beat that number by a large amount; shooting 16-30 from the field and 8-14 from three.

Julius Randle and Evan Fournier led the way for the New York Knicks, scoring 35 and 32 points respectively.

The Knicks defeated the Celtics 138-134 in 2OT.
