Lakers Agree to Trade Marc Gasol to Grizzlies, Per Report

Marc Gasol to Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to trade veteran big-man Marc Gasol to the Memphis Grizzlies – and no, the year is not 2008.

Gasol’s draft rights were previously traded by the Lakers to the Grizzlies in 2008 in exchange for a package that included his older brother, Pau.

This trade, which was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, would send Gasol, a 2024 second round pick, and cash in exchange for the draft rights to Wang Zhelin.

Zhelin, 27, was drafted in the second round (57th overall) of the 2016 draft by the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies plan to waive Gasol in order for him to stay in Spain with his family.

Gasol averaged 14.o points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists through 14 seasons in the NBA.

It’s likely Gasol will garner Hall of Fame votes for his prolific International career in which he won two Olympic Silver Medals.
