Jimmy Butler on Heat’s Inconsistent Play: ‘We’re Just Being Soft’

Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler had some candid words for his team after losing 111-119 to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

“We’re just being soft. That’s it,” Butler said, via ESPN.

“Not getting into bodies, scared of some contact. Soft overall.”

The Heat currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 28-28.

Some of the Heat’s poor play can be attributed to injuries and COVID-19 protocols – but there’s no denying that the team simply hasn’t looked like the team that made it to the NBA Finals last season.

“We’ve got to get stops, and that’s the bottom line,” star center Bam Adebayo said.

“Offense will take care of itself.”

Despite bringing back much of the roster that pushed Miami to the Finals last season, the Heat have dropped from 7th in offensive rating to 24th.

That’s a staggering regression that can’t be attributed to just one issue.

The Heat have to figure things out quickly as there’s just a month and change until the start of the playoffs.
